hello
Russell George here...
I`ve been nominated for adoption 25 times
I`m
71 years old, & my favourite drink is Cotswold Way
I`ve been drinking at George Inn for 53 years.
I was introduced to the pub by a local (Mr Hughes) and taught how to play dominoes. This was before I was legally allowed in the pub. It’s a great local and the landlord and landlady are the best. The entertainment is great and the people very friendly.
I played darts, cribbage and dominoes for the George until 10 years ago when I joined the Forest of Dean male voice choir who practice on the darts nights. I now leave it to the youngsters to play the pub games, except on Saturday and Sunday lunch times - then we play '9 card Don', which is very competitive.
I joined the Air force in 1949 and served two years of National Service stationed at RAF South Cerney. I played football for the RAF and the Forest of Dean until the age of 46. I also played golf for 10 years but gave up as my good lady Joyce became a 'Sports Widow' i.e. 4hrs playing and 3 hrs at the 19th hole!
