The House in the Tree
A warm welcome awaits all at Britain's only Public House called 'The House in the Tree'. This is because it was!
The name was given to the premises in the 1870's when the then owners, the Hobbs family, had a large house built in the lower branches of a massive beech tree situated in front of the premises. The Hobbs produced a semi legendary home made cider, and up to thirty locals could crowd into the treehouse and enjoy their favorite brew. Playing dominoes and cards in idyllic surroundings, plied with drink by a serving wench, the nineteenth century drinker knew they were in a country paradise.
