Drinking Games - Luck

Select a type of drinking game from the list below:
Type:

The Matchbox Game

Requirements: One Full Matchbox, A Table.

Everyone buys three pints from the bar and sits round the table. The matchbox is rotated clockwise around the table. Players take it in turns to throw the matchbox from below the level of the table over their pint. The idea of the game is to try and accumulate penalties for your fellow drinkers so take your time.

The box can land in five positions:

  • The long side of the matchbox - 2 fingers accumulated
  • The short side of the matchbox - 4 fingers accumulated
  • The Floor - Finish the remainder of your pint - quickly
  • A Pint glass - Finish the remainder of the pint that it has landed in. Replace it with a new one from the Bar, regardless if it is your own drink or not.
  • Face up or face down - no penalty unless an accumulation has occurred prior to your throw.

The best way to explain the game is to run a dummy game.

Player one throws the box, whatever it lands on, the accumulated amount is passed onto the next player. For example if he/she threw and the box landed on the long side then they have two fingers passed on. If player two throws and it lands on the short side the two-finger penalty plus the four-finger penalty is passed onto player three and so on.

However if a player makes a mistake whilst throwing they then have to drink the accumulated amount. Therefore in the example above, if player three threw and the box landed flat then they would have to drink 6 fingers.

Now you can add some advanced rules to the game once you have mastered the basic idea.

Use the force - be at one with your box - throw the box and make it hit the ceiling taking into account the usual rules for how and where the box should land.

Plant some mines for your fellow drinkers - once you have finished your drink do not take it back to the bar but strategically place it on the table.

Firstly do not let anyone fiddle with the box regardless of how wet or damaged it becomes, and secondly if any matches fall out of the box then the offending thrower must drink one finger for every match that fell.

Beer Roulette

Requirements: Six Packs of Beer.

This game is for people who have always wanted to try out Russian Roulette but didn't want to die. This game lets you do that and instead of dying you get drunk.

2-6 people can play this game. One person takes a six pack of beer out of the room and shakes one of the cans vigorously. He then brings out the cans and places them in a bag that everyone draws from.

Everyone picks a can and opens it at the same time while holding it directly under their nose. If your beer explodes then you are "dead" and you have to sit out the next round. Everyone drinks their opened beers and then the next round proceeds with the remaining survivors. The last one to be alive wins and is probably pretty drunk, but at least they are dry!

The Rules of the Game

Requirements: A coin.

You challenge your opponents by approaching them (you must have at least half a pint in your hand) and asking: "Do you know the rules of the Game?"

Your opponent may respond by saying: "Sir / Madam, It would be rude not to".

You then flip a coin, your opponent calls 'heads or tails', and whoever loses has to down their pint in one.

This game will seperate the boys from the men.

Rugby

Requirements: An ongoing rugby match.

Played while watching a game of Rugby. The buzz factor is random because it depends upon the game. At the beginning each player picks the team they will support.

Drinks are taken when the opposition scores:

A try by a back, 5 fingers

A conversion, 2 fingers

A penalty kick, 3 fingers

A drop kick, 3 fingers

A try by a forward, 7 fingers
